Apparently the ICS server at eve is being flaky, at best.  I try to
connect like so:

$ xics eve.assumption.edu 5000
Trying...
telnet: connect: A remote host refused an attempted connect operation.

Does anyone know if ICS has problems on eve, or should I be using a
different port, or should I use another ICS server?  Or is there
another problem?  I got ICS working around Monday of this week, and
it hasn't worked since.  I sent mail to shah...@eve.assumption.edu,
and I haven't received any reply.  There could be network problems
between here and there...I don't know.  If anyone knows what's going
on, please let me know.  I'm dying to get onto ICS and play some
"real" games, and I'm having trouble.

        I believe eve.assumption.edu is no longer going to run a chess server--
though I would like some form of confirmation of this.  The only other
server I know of in operation is one at valkyries.andrew.cmu.edu
(128.2.232.4).  (Note they use the same ratings server, so you can use
your same login id/password and you have your same stats)
