I've been trying for a few weeks now to get in touch with the ICS,
and nothing seems to be working.  I can't ping it, I can't
telnet to it, DNS shows that's its there, but I can't get to it from
the half dozen or so machines I've tried.

This is valkyries.andrew.cmu.edu, right?

I'd like to run xics and watch / play some games, but I'm stuck.

Boy, you're out of date.  Valkyries has been down for at least 6
months.

I think this has been posted many times, but here we go again.  The
North American server is:

   telnet coot.lcs.mit.edu 5000

The European server is:

   telnet bentley.daimi.aau.dk 5000  (or 5001, or 5002... if 5000 fails)

The new ftp server is :

   chess.uoknor.edu

By the way:
  coot.lcs.mit.edu = 18.52.0.70
  bentley.daimi.aau.dk = 130.225.16.162
  chess.uoknor.edu = 129.15.10.254

Could somebody please put this info in the FAQ? (if it's not already
there)  Thanks.
