The Washington Senators

For those of you too young to remember:

When I was a kid, DC had a baseball team called The Washington Senators. The owner, Bob Short, sold the team which became The Texas Rangers. Needless to say, I was completely tramatized by this event, and have ignored professional baseball ever since. (I guess that taught them a lesson.) I was at the last Senators game ever played in R.F.K. stadium, (they lost of course), and I will always remember the banner hanging in left field:

May the bird of peace nest in your Shorts.

(I'm not old enough to remember the first time Washington lost a baseball team, which became The Minnesota Twins.)
