31 May 05 Congratulations Celtic! On May 29th, 2005, you made history by becoming the only men's soccer team in Norman, OK to ever win 4 state championships! And you accomplished this feat over the course of 7 years of competitive soccer. Each year, a team in your age group wins the championship, but to do so four times is unprecedented. You should be proud of yourselves, since maintaining your quality of play throughout your youth and into young adult hood is very difficult. Coaches come and go, teams change, but one constant remains: Celtic 88 Green is, always has been, and always will be a team whose accomplishments will be looked up to by the young teams in the Norman system, and throughout Oklahoma. With this achievement, I'll change the character of the page some, mainly to provide a history of the Celtic 88 Green team. So, I'll be soliciting our parents for any information they have that they'd like to see maintained here. In closing, I'd like to say goodbye to Gary as he moves on to coach other teams, and welcome Dave as he steps in to coach you through another year of competitive soccer. With just a bit of luck and a nudge or two from Dave, I'm certain you gentlemen stand an excellent chance of winning yet another championship. For now, rest while you can because the Southern Regionals are just a couple of weeks away. Congratulatons again Celtic, you are true champions. |
