ROLLER COASTER
Along with the Carousel, this majestic ride was the pride of Crescent
Park. Several coasters were used throughout the park's 93 year
history. First came the Tobbogan Coaster built by Charles Looff
around the year 1914.

It was the second coaster that would become legendary. Heart rates
would race faster than the coaster itself, with that first vertical
(50 foot) drop. Steep banks and perfectly placed swells, afforded
you a ride at frightening speeds. This coaster was heavily damaged
in the New England hurricane of 1938. In 1939, Ed Leis rebuilt this
monster, and it remained the anchor of the park for the next 22 years
until it's dismantling in 1961.
The last coaster at the park, the Comet Coaster, was built in the
1960s. It was considerably smaller in stature compared to it's
predecessor, but the COMET was deceptively quick for a roller coaster.
