Unsure of which of Father's Three wives was Thomas' Mother. First wife was widow of Thomas' wife's Father!

Since Thomas b.a. 1535 named one of is daughters Cecily, I'd bet a nickel that his mother was John's third wife, Cicelye CAPON. Given the lack of spelling conventions at the time, that counts as the same name. Is there any way to confirm this, or learn more about her CAPON family? It =sounds= French, and Norwich is on the Channel . . .⁵⁰

Sir Thomas probably got his knighthood for services rendered as sheriff and mayor, but apparently the title wasn't hereditary.⁵⁰

According to⁶³, Mark has Christian's mother as Rose; however, according to⁵², Christian's father was Simon DeThick - which means that Thomas & Christian were Step-siblings as Thomas' father (John) had married the "widow of Simon Dethick" - assuming it is Jone Dethick per Mark⁶³, that leaves an unkown "Rose Dethick". -CR

The Campbell line has been traced back to Dugal Campbell of Scotland, his son Duncan Campbell who first purchased forfeited lands near Ulster, Ireland and to Duncan's grandson Hugh who moved to Ireland in 1612. The family of Hugh's grandson Duncan first came to America during the flod of Scotch-Irish in 1726 and settled in Pennsylvania but later drifted down into Virginia. We appear to be descended from these clans.

Our own line has been accurately traced to James Austin Campbell (1787/9-1830) and tentatively to the above-mentioned first Campbells in Virginia. Jame Austin Campbell and his wife Mary Massie Vaughan Campbell moved from the Vicinity of Richmond, VA to TN about 1830. As supposed by Louise Jacobs and Eugenia Campbell, James Austin Campbell had grown up in SW VA on Cripple Creek, a tributary of the Holston River in S. Wythe County, VA and had later moved to Richmond. It is true that Cripple Creek run trhough the community of Austinville, Wythe County, and the community of Cripple Creek is also on the creek about 12 miles north of Austinville; also General William Campbell is buried in the Aspenvale Cemetary which can be seen about 200 yards north of Highway US 11, 21 miles east of Abingdon and about 7 miles from Marian. General Campbell commanded the Revolutionary army at the Battle of King's Mountain. Governor David Campbell of VA and Gov. WIliam Bowen Campbell of TN were also related to this family. Thus it is probably safe to claim them as kinsfolks.⁴⁵

Although I don't have a date, I would guess that Gwaethfeod Fawr lived between 900AD and 1100AD.-CR
