OUR GOD IS AN AWESOME GOD!

We worship an awesome God! The following paragraph represents just a very partial glimpse of what the Bible says about Him…

God is spirit,¹ unchanging,² all-powerful,³ perfectly free,⁴ all knowing,⁵ everywhere present,⁶ and eternal.⁷ He is the absolute sovereign.⁸ God is perfectly holy,⁹ perfectly righteous,¹⁰ perfectly just,¹¹ perfectly wise,¹² perfectly loving,¹³ and perfectly good.¹⁴ God is always true,¹⁵ always faithful,¹⁶ and always merciful.¹⁷ Our God is the God of all grace, compassion, and comfort.¹⁸ God alone is self-existent¹⁹ and self-sufficient.²⁰ God is unique:²¹ there is only One God ²² – the Father,²³ the Son,²⁴ and the Holy Spirit ²⁵ – the Trinity.²⁶

Thinking about God is more than an intellectual exercise. It can be an act of worship. When I think about who God is I am humbled and overcome with awe. Deep thankfulness appears to be the only possible response. I am overwhelmed with gratitude that God has chosen to pour out His love on a sinner such as I. God loves me and sent His Son to die for me. He did this so that I would love and worship Him.

I hope that you will look up the passages and think deeply about the God who loves you and sent His Son for you. My prayer is that as you do so you will be moved to worship the awesome God whom we serve together.
