A Little Bit about Us

Updated January 31,2002

I am Richard Shalvoy (click to send mail to me).

Together with my wife, Karol Ann, who does the greater part of the work, we have been homeschooling our daughters since the fall of 1990. Whew. I use this site to share some things about Homeschooling in General and Homeschooling in Connecticut in particular. I also share some of the neat things about the State of Connecticut. More recently, I have added in some things on our family's involvement in Gilbert and Sullivan plays which has been fun if time intensive. As time and motivation allows I may yet also build some other things into the page, items on education reform, walking as a Christian, and my interests in science. If you are curious, here is a not-so recent (5/97) picture of me.

Our middle daughter Joanna won a state award in the Johns Hopkins Youth Talent Search and here is a picture of her taken that day holding the certificate she received.

This web site has been online since the spring of 1996 when it was available through the old Prodigy Computer Services (also called Prodigy Classic more recently) system. It was on the At Home Network from May, 1999 until January, 2002. Now it is on the Cox Cable service. As time has passed and more Connecticut groups have gotten online I have refocused my efforts more towards the Resource Guide, which is work enough as it is. I do still maintain and keep up to date the CT Regulations section as well. But News and Support Group information can be obtained more readily from CHEA, TEACH, and other local groups.
