Well I sat down to play some .50/1 ring games never was up more than 6 bucks and never was down more than 9. The fish were there but the table fell apart before I could do anything and left the table down $4. Jumped on to my PokerStars account and played a NL SnG, it was going ok but one guy was like killing everyone he won at least 6 hands in a row and was in front of everyone by a mile and we still had 6 players left. I felt like he was bluffing a lot now that he had so many chips and I called down a suspicious board only to be showed the horror of another of his winning hands. Short stacked I go all in on pocket QQ and that was the end of me. I then jumped back onto Party Poker and jumped into another NL SnG and has doing ok, again I just sat and laughed at some of the bad playing I was observing and praying for some cards to punish the fools and they came in time :) I was short stacked at one point and then the climb came and when the dust cleared Dakicker kicked butt!! Got the win so total profit today was a whopping $9.50. I really need to take PokerStars more serious or just close my account as I dont sweat going bust there with my little amount left. I may go play some NL micro limits and see if can build it up some.
Added a new section to the left "BLOGS" some guys were kewl enough to email me. One guy named Shftleft actually gave his thoughts on my previous hand which I appreciate the insight. Whatcha think about this one Shftleft? I have visited both Shftleft and Russ's blogs and they are good reads check em out. Anyone elsewant to link their blog, email me. Also if someone please could tell me how I could add comments to my threads that would be greatly appreciated.
Anyhow no reading today, but I still plan on finishing Carson's book over the weekend and posting thoughts shortly after. See my hand review below on spanked pocket rockets. The hand may have been different if I could have gotten some action but the calling stations were hard at work.

Dakicker balance $19, lost $5.50 [ As Ah ] [ two pairs, aces and threes --
As,Ah,9d,3h,3c ]
As you can see...once again pocket rockets failed which leads me to believe a made hand gets cracked more times than not by a drawing hand. I think StanLeeC probably played the hand fairly well and if that 7 would have not fell on the turn he would have folded. I also think if I could have gotten any action preflop or on the flop and he would have been forced to cold call he should have folded at that point as well.
Play smart and the money will come.

Its been a pretty good run the last couple days even though I havent played all that much. Finished first at a SnG at PokerStars which I think has much tougher competition. Just had a great streak of cards especially when I got heads up it didnt last long at all. Then I played another SnG at Party Poker and finished second. It was the longest SnG I have played with 4 players still in the game at level 8. I must say there was a total A-hole at the table that only said one thing every time someone busted out..."ur gone" so when he finally busted out in fourth myself and another player both said "ur gone" he went off and started his little trash talking. Saying things about my wife etc etc. Well here is a hint for any one out there that does this....so fucking what!!! Your talk means nothing as you mean nothing to most other people online. Its all about the money which I took some of and he did not :)
After the SnG I then sat down at a ring game .50/1 played about 60 hands and was suprised at the amount of flops I saw..roughly 37% which is high for me. Only one hand that got me on the showdown and I just had to see. I had the flush A high but there was a chance for a straight flush which is what the other guy had. Closed up that session up about $19 on the ring games.
I still havent finished Carson's book but Im 2/3 thirds of the way through. I dont think it showed me anything new or amazing but it did or I should say has enlightened me some. I will elaborate more once Im done reading it.
Now I need some advise I was thinking of hitting some 1/2 games once my PP account hits $200. Thoughts on this...is that to soon? Also anyone that would like to take the time to explain to me how to get Poker Tracker up and running that would be greatly appreciated. And finally to close with I havent received anyone yet emailing me to link their Blogs. Come on guys :)
Play smart and the money will come.

Well its been rough the last couple of days, got thumped in a couple SnG's and yesterday I had a set busted by a bigger set. Today wasnt to bad I made $25 to the good which brought my account back up Im down about $2 for the week. I played in a Poker Stars $1 tourney. I just couldnt get the hands, there was 690 at the start I finished around 380. Ive been in a slump lately its up and down and I just tread water, hopefully the turn will come soon. Im about half way through Carson's book hopefully a review will be done this week.
Thanks to Iggy for linking me on his awesome page, I just hope to have a third of the useful info on his blog. Im gonna start linking to other players blog's so email me at schoolofhardknocks@cox.net if you would like a link.

Ok I have updated the site with some links and I have worked long and hard to get the David Ross story up. Luckily he allowed me to put it on my site so you no longer have to do the BS search that 2+2 will put you through to read it. If you have no idea what Im talking about it a bunch of threads that David puts up once a week on 2+2 talking about his week of play online. He has been playing for a living now for over 42 weeks. Its a long but good read, I think you will enjoy it. If you have a slow internet connection some of the pages may take awhile to load up as they are bigger than I thought :(
As far as playing, well I havent played in the last couple days just trying to get the site ironed out more. But I reread one of my favorite books by Lee Jones, Winning Low Limit Hold'EM I can not believe how much more I took out of the book the second time round and I read the book for the first time about a month ago. I guess it will be better the third time :) Its a great book to lay a sound foundation. I highly recommend it. Along with that book is another that is well worth its weight in chips. It is by Matthew Hilger, Internet Texas Hold'em: Winning Strategies from an Internet Pro. Another great book with solid info and a nice starting hand chart from various positions and number of caller/raise in the hand. I am looking forward to reading this book again soon. I also ordered Gary Carson's book The Complete Book of Hold 'Em Poker: A Comprehensive Guide to Playing and Winning This book was recommended by Iggy at his blog site (see the link under the link tab). I'll post on that once I have the book in hand.
As far as what Im gonna do in the next few days, well I hope to get poker tracker running and figured out. I am debating on grinding at one table of .50/1 or jumping in some $25 NL tables. I have been observing some play there and wasnt too impressed, of course its at Party Poker. I think this or Empire is the place to play, PokerStars has alot of freerolls and tourneys but the players are much better there. So why fish in the river when you can fish a stocked pond :) I hope to put some good posts up this weekend and get some playing in would be nice.
Play smart and the money will come.

This is my first post and the opening of my Blog.
I surely will add more features, pages and info as they come to me. This
post will be a little long as I want to give a little information
about myself, what Im doing game wise and what my goals are. So here
we go :)
I'm 32 years old and have been a police Officer for seven years.
I have been married for 12 years now and have a 3 year old son and 5 year old daughter.
I played five card stud as a child for fun but that was about as far as I ever went with it
at that point. In November of 2003 I saw Chris Moneymaker win the World Series of Poker on ESPN.
That's when I started reading up on Texas Hold'Em and playing the free games at Empire Poker.
I did'nt start playing real money games til about mid January of 2004 with my initial deposit of $50
in Party Poker. I'm not going into a lot of things today as its late and I just want to wrap up the
site and get it uploaded for tonight. I will give on piece of advise for tonight....DO NOT PLAY
THE FREE GAMES. Its not going to help you game, it teaches bad habits as everyone just raises and calls
any and all hands to the river, a monkey could do this. Spend your time more wisely until you get some
money in by reading some books which I will discuss two that I have read and like so far in the next couple of days.
Or play with some friends who will take it serious you could even play them online to get familiar with the games
and the types of set ups.
Hopefully next time I can get into more meat and potatoes about my game and what I plan
on doing to get it going better than it has so far. Play smart and the money will come :)
