It has truly been a rough time since my last post. I have seen my account go from about $350 down to about $260 and now Im hovering at about $299. I have played 5 SnG's and just couldnt win more than two hands. The cards were could I lost three due to blinds and finished 4th in 3 out of the 5. I have moved all my funds around for the time being to Pacific Poker. I know I should be at Party, but Im bonus hunting now in an attempt to help my account. I do plan on going back to either Empire or Party as soon as I have my sign up bonus done. My Lederer DVD should be in tomorrow, unfortunately I have not heard a lot of good things about it. But I will have a review up ASAP. Well its time to try to grind some more, the goal is still $400 in the account by the end of the month. We shall have to see how it goes.
Play smart and the money will come.

Well I went out of order on reviews, I know I said Feeney was next but I went ahead and covered a book by Matthew Hilger. The book is Internet Texas Hold'em: Winning Strategies from an Internet Pro. It is a great book check out the link to the left and see the index and my review. I just watched WPT on the travel channel and I so enjoy watching Hellmuth make an ass out of himself, every time he got crushed by Hoyt I laughed even more. I thought Hellmuth was gonna roll on the floor and cry, watching him never win these events makes it worth while. Anyhow I got a UPS tracking number today for my Lederer DVD should be here next week, man I cant wait to see that. I just hope its not a big joke, a review will follow.
Anyhow as far as my game, well at Hilger's site I am an active member of the forum and we have a little contest going on. It was for one week period to join Royal Vegas site, they put $10 in your account for free. The challenge is to see who can take the $10 up the most in one week, yours truly I think is in first place right now at $50.50. Now that came at a price yesterday I hit $47 and then tanked to $6 but brought it back to end the day at $33. Today was just a steady push forward to $50.50, my goal is by Sunday to have somewhere around $100. I think once I hit $75 Im gonna push up to the 1/2 games of course Im playing the 6 max tables. I will keep you posted on how thats going, I probably will bust out :)
Play smart and the money will come.

I have updated the David Ross story, check the link under features for week 45. I just finished Inside the Poker Mind by Feeney and hopefully my review will be up this week. I also anxiously await the Lederer video hopefully it has some usefulness to it, I will definitely put a review up on that once I have it in my greedy hands.
I am starting to come into my game a little more and am starting to get better at figuring out what my competition is holding. I think reading material helps but then the play time just starts to make things clearer. I had 4 winning days in a row until today, I knew it was coming and I'm ok with it, I expect them to come. I have been only playing 6 max .50/1 at PokerStars and did go around once at empire on the 6 max 1/2, Im also still hitting once and awhile $5 SnG tourneys. I should probably move up to the $10 ones, however I did finish 2nd in one tonight I have been having a bad streak with them.
My goal right now is to get my roll up to play the $1/2 6 max tables more regularly. I thought to myself why do I like these short handed games so much more than a full ring game because the blinds are always coming around to you. But the answer is simple, I try to play quality hands pre-flop and when the flop hits me I ram and jam. I do bluff sometimes and I'm about 50% on them, but I usually wait til the board is right and I'm heads up with the right player. The ring games at the lower levels has too many people seeing 4th and 5th straight and the river is usually my enemy not my friend. My hands are usually either good by 4th st or I'm gone unless 5th st has a lot of outs for me or I think my opponent hasn't made his hand yet. Its just much clearer for me to play under those conditions, so for now that is where I play although the last couple trips to the table I have walked away scratching my head. But I feel Im still moving in the right direction and thats what matters.
Im thinking of going for an account bonus at Paradise, can anyone shoot me an email and tell me what they think of the lower limit games?
Play smart and the money will come.

Well in the last couple days as you can see I took a hit in my party poker account. Lost two SnG's and had two rough ring games, but the good news is I actually have been doing well at Pokerstars. I found that the 6 max tables are really fun if you can stomach the swings it can create. My account there is up by $40+ which actually puts my total roll up since the last post by about $30+. I know Im not growing fast like some players are but Im steadily growing. I think I may soon check out pacific poker for a bonus. I hope it doesnt take as long as Pokerstars to get the bonus as I am still working on that one. The goal for the end of March is to be around $400 in the accounts. At that time I will probably focus on one site with all my money and move up to the 1/2 games. I saw were Iggy's Blog showed that Howard Lederer now has a video out. Im gonna pick it up and have a review of it soon to follow. This is a short post as Im wiped out and its late, hopefully some longer and more in depth posts will follow soon.
Play smart and the money will come.

First off the David Ross thread has been updated and you can check out week 44. February has come and gone and has been archived to the left under Archives. Also check out my review under the review section of Gary Caron's Book The complete book of Hold 'Em Poker.
Well the last couple days have been rough I dropped $25 dollars in a $25NL game on the first hand. Hit a set but someone else hit a bigger set, that's twice this has happened to me now. I also played two SnG both of which I placed 4th. I jumped into a couple ring sessions in the last couple day and struggled finishing a couple dollars down both times. So at that point my account was down about $30. I decided to go bonus whoring from reading Iggy's Blog so I dumped just $72 in to Empire and they offered a $14 bonus for 72 raked hands. I just wanted to go in the black for a day so I sat down at a ring table .50/1. I sat out because I was three off the button coming my way and right off the bat I noticed how terrible the playing was. I started chomping at the bit to get in the game. So I played that night and knocked out 30 of my 72 racked hands and finished the rest last night again watching some bad play. After two sessions and I played a total of probably about 100-120 hands at that level I made almost $28 plus my $14 for a $42 swing to the good. I almost believe the play at Empire is worse than Party if that is even possible. Im gonna leave my $16 at Pokerstars to play those $1 multi table tourneys and thats it, the play there is just too tough to make a decent amount. Im thinking about hunting down some more sign up bonuses I will post what I find on my next update.
