Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association

Rhode Island Chapter

“Veterans Supporting Veterans and our Community”

      Gentlemen and Ladies Auxiliary,

On behalf of the R.I. Chapter of the Combat Veterans Association, Our Ladies Auxiliary and wives of those recently deployed had met on August 20th for a get-together. During this meeting they discussed upcoming CVMA events.

The Ladies Auxiliary will be collecting donations for the Hasbro Children’s Hospital drive we will sponsor this fall.

Donations will be made in the form of “Family Gift Bags”.

When a child is admitted to the Hospital, the family is invited to stay there for short periods and is given small gift bags of items containing personal hygiene during their stay during this difficult time.

Our goal is to donate items such as:

Tooth Brushes (individually wrapped)                         Tooth Paste

Combs and or hair Brushes                                           deodorant

Crossword puzzles                                                          pens

Gum or hard candies                                                      Baby powder

Mouthwash                                                                      shampoo

These items can be found at any dollar store, or your local drug store, or Wal-Mart in the trial size for 99 cents to a dollar per item.

Please bring any donations to the CVMA upcoming meeting at the Armory of mounted commands on September 10th at 1pm .

The Ladies Auxiliary will meet again and put these “Family Gift Bags” together and we will set a time for our donation drive and venture to the Hasbro Children’s Hospital to drop them off. Do not be afraid to ask family members and friends to also help with these donation items….It is for a Great Cause in our Community!

Also, as I had mentioned in our last meeting…I would like to see our entire member wear some type of Support our Troops lapel pin on our jackets, vests, etc... To support our CVMA brothers and sisters deployed and all of our troops overseas until their return.

There will be “Service Utility Pins” available at the September meeting. These pins are $4.00 each and the proceeds will benefit the 1207th Transportation Company’s Family Support Group. As you know, many of our CVMA members and future members are with this unit, and this will be a Great Support pin to wear on our Colors!

I will also attach a wish list sent to me by the Hasbro Children’s Hospital staff for items in addition to the Gift Bags; we can also discuss this at the meeting.

Upcoming Events:

The Regional CVMA Meeting will be held on September 24th in Milford , NH

Member from New Hampshire , Massachusetts , Vermont , etc... Will be there.

Mike Dalmazzi is looking for a Headcount for this event and it should be a one day trip for us. Mike will send out an e-mail with details of this event soon.

There will be other PGR and Benefit rides from now until the end of season. Along with a donation drive to support the 1207th Transportation Company to send them supplies once in country. These events will be discussed in our next meeting. Mark this on your calendar: CVMA Meeting September 10th at 1pm .  See you there!

I would also like to wish a “Speedy Recovery” to our own Gary Rehak. He had ventured to Sturgis and tried a little “Baja” on his bike at the “needles”…then traveled approximately 25 miles on a busted up bike and a broken collar bone to the nearest hospital. My hat is off to your high pain threshold Gary !
