Today she found out she is expecting,
Her heart is filled with joy,
As she feels the small of her belly,
She wonders if it'll be a girl or a boy.
With the passing of days,
She feels the child within,
She thinks it may be a girl,
And decides to call her Lynne.
Her due date draws close,
And in anticipation of that day,
She smiles in wonderment, of which the child will resemble,
Herself or her husband Jay.
The pains in her belly are getting stronger,
Her excitement turns to fear,
Afraid of the unexpected,
And the new baby soon to be here.
After hours of hard labor,
The Doctor passes them their son,
Holding on to each other,
As they cuddle their new little one.
She is content with her new life,
And all that it brings,
She dances around the room,
Her child sleeps, she sings.
She lies him in his crib,
Kisses him softly on his cheek,
Snuggles him in tight,
Out the room she sneaks.
Overwhelmed by a strange feeling,
Like nothing she has felt before,
She runs to her son's room,
And stands just outside his door.
She opens the door slightly,
To take a peak inside,
Quickly she walks to the crib
And she starts to cry.
Somewhere in the night,
He fell asleep in death,
How their lives have changed,
When their baby lost his breath.
The loss of her child,
Cuts her way down deep,
As the cord of her love is broken,
Forever in her heart she weeps.
