Here are some photos of my TRE modification. (TRE stands for Timing Retard Eliminator)
If you don't know about this, the basic idea is that Suzuki programs their ECU with somewhat restricted parameters for the lower gears. The TRE mod gives you the full potential of the bike by fooling the ECU into thinking the bike is in 6th gear all the time and applying the 6th gear map. For some bikes, like the hayabusa or gsx-r1000, the TRE mod is slightly different - it fools the bike into thinking it's in 5th to bypass the 186MPH limiter in 6th on those bikes. The SV1000S doesn't go that fast, so it just uses the 6th gear mod. It's all done with a simple resistor in place of the gear position sensor (GPS). I did a switched version so I can easily go back to the stock version if I want.

Below is a diagram taken from Rogfog at www.sv1000.zyns.com. It shows the basic idea of what I did.

Here is a view of the toggle switch in its box as I created it from parts

In the garage with the tank up

Wires ready to be spliced

Stripped the OEM wires - ready to connect

Soldered together and heat shrink wrapped
