Dale K. Robinson
Dale K. Robinson retired from the U.S. Air Force in 1995 as a technical sergeant after 20 years in helicopter maintenance, the last ten spent with the Sikorsky
MH-53J Pave Low IIIE special operations helicopter and the 20th Special Operations Squadron at Hurlburt Field, Florida. Dale is a veteran of the Persian Gulf War in 1991 and served in Operations
Provide Promise and Deny Flight in support of United Nations operations in Bosnia.
His decorations include the Air Force Commendation Medal with an oak leaf cluster, the Air Force Achievement Medal, the Joint Meritorious Unit Award, the Air
Force Good Conduct Medal, The National Defense Service Medal, the Southwest Asia Service Medal with 2 devices, and the Liberation of Kuwait Medal from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Dale is also an
amateur military historian, and has written several articles and columns for magazines and newspapers. In 1994, he co-authored a book entitled Air Commando! 1950 - 1975: Twenty Five
Years At The Tip Of The Spear, which was published by the Air Force Special Operations School at Hurlburt Field, Florida. He has also written a 50 year history of the 20th Special
Operations Squadron, which has yet to be published. In 1998, he had an article about the 20th Special Operations Squadron in Southeast Asia published in the August 98 issue of
Vietnam magazine.
Dale is a member of the Civil Air Patrol , the U.S. Air Force Auxiliary, where he holds the grade
of lieutenant colonel. Dale originally joined CAP as a cadet in 1966 in Montgomery Composite Squadron (Virginia Wing). He has served in numerous positions during his service, including deputy
commander for cadets, and later, squadron commander of Phoenix-Litchfield Composite Squadron 313 (Arizona Wing). He is a past commander of Eglin Composite Squadron (Florida Wing), and served as
Florida Wing's Group 1 Public Affairs Officer. He has also served as Aerospace Education Officer for Group One. His Aerospace Education Web Page was selected for use as a sample in a presentation
to Chinese educators from the Chinese Society of Astronautics and Aeronautics (CSAA) in Zuhai, China at AIRShow China98, in November 1998. Dale was selected as the 1999 Public Affairs Officer of
the Year for Florida Wing Civil Air Patrol.
Dale's Civil Air Patrol decorations include the Commander's Commendation Award, the Unit Citation Award, the Gill Robb Wilson Award, the Grover C. Loening Aerospace Award, the Paul E. Garber Award, the Leadership Award, and the General Billy Mitchell Award. He has completed Level V of the Senior Member Training Program and has also completed the Aerospace Education Program for Senior Members, earning the General Chuck Yeager Award.
Dale is a 1970 graduate of Blacksburg High School, Blacksburg, Virginia and holds an associate degree in Aircraft Maintenance Management from the Community College of the Air Force as well as a bachelor of science degree in Professional Aeronautics from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, with a minor in aviation safety. Dale lives in Crestview, Florida with his wife Katie and their children.
