burnhead

1992- 1993

After the break up of Strychnine Temple, Damien re-emerged in what could arguably be his most frightening project to date: BURNHEAD! Spearheaded by cosmic fog guitar musings of Chris Daniels, Burnhead came into being in a small work shed in the rural south.
Damien: "Chris Daniels had been working with a few different musicians in the area trying to put a new band together. He invited me to his place one evening just make up some songs. It was just me, Daniels & Steven Payne. Daniels came up with some wild guitar parts then tried to explain what rhythms he wanted to Steven. Steven would program the drums and do all the freaky synth parts. Then I would just make up vocal parts. We created two songs right off the top then the next session we brought a 4 track. That's the only time we wrote all together though, after that I would just go out and record the music that Daniels and Payne wrote then I would bring the tapes home, eat a bit of acid, lock myself up in my room and then just vent! Some of my favorite vocal parts are on those tapes. It wasn't always the main vocal either. Some of the backing vocals sound like a mad opera!"
