by some as the "second Surprise Symphony album"
Magic Island is Blackberry Records 3rd release. Where
The Surprise Symphony was more of a " freaky carnival
band album", Magic Island's SMALL almost sounds
like Spyder's solo LP. The only photos on the album show Spyder
on the compound with an unknown girl.
The
music on this album is more like the mellow side of Surprise Symphony
but Spyder's vocals seem a bit stronger and more confident. Damien's
musical compositions and accompaniment lend to the lone singer/songwriter
feel with great ease. (As that is what he often does on his own albums).
Influences are a bit easier to spot on this album, Steve Harley?
Syd Barrett? Television Personalities?
