Hollow
Me
I conjured you today and wrote this poem, like
golden rain,
Everything came falling, right before my eyes,
I was too terrified to walk into the light.
All my dreams were flustered & all had been denied,
I should have known that all my worlds would soon collide...
Hollow me.
I watched the sun go down, like unanswered prayers,
I realized, I cannot resurrect you,
I can’t restore your faith and
I can’t hold you in my arms and keep you safe.
Just like all my songs are worthless I write them anyway,
Just like a lover lying flowers on a grave...
Hollow me.
I stood beneath the shade and carved in willow,
my lover’s name.
I don’t know why I do this, it doesn’t mean a thing,
I can’t immortalize a soul I’ve never seen.
All those times are best forgotten, but I keep them anyway.
I am a stranger walking silent in the rain...
Hollow me.
