The following was written by John A Sands and was taken from his papers-
Operated a farm which was part of the originalFinch place at Chatfield. After the death of his parents, he and his brother William Boyd Finch bought the land and divided it. He was a very fine farmer and had outstanding livestock. He was a very happy person with a fine sense of humor. They were both leaders in the community and highly respected. They wer my grandparents and I spent many happy hours on their farm as a boy growing up.

Gladys Shahan Sharp's father was Elry Doran Shahan and mother was Mary Ellen Louis. She was born somewhere in Blanco Co around Sandy, but I don't know the exact date. She was the youngest child, a very pretty woman.
Her oldest brother was born in 1892 and since she was the youngest of 8 children, I suspect she was born in early 1900's.She and her husband had two girls and 5 boys and the only thing I know is that she moved to New Mexico.
I am fishing to see if I can find someone in her family that knows more about her grandfather Andrew Jackson Shahan and Rosenan Mourfield Shahan.

Billy had an automobile dealership in Floydada, Texas before WW II.
Then, at the beginning of the war, as a widower, he moved with his daughter Lajuana Jo and housekeeper Mrs. Mayhew, to Vallejo, California where he worked at Mare Island Shipyard. Billy's sister Virginia and her two younger children joined him in Vallejo in the summer of '42, staying with him and his family during part of the summer before moving to the Carquinez Heights area of Vallejo. Virginia left Vallejo in early 1943, moving to Los Angeles, and had little further contact with Billy.
Family recollection is that after Lajuana Jo married in about 1947, Billy returned to Texas. In Austin, Texas he found a widow that he and Flava had known years before. He married her, and presumably spent the remainder of his life with her. However, I found a William Sharp in the Soc. Sec. database that was the right age to be Billy. This William Sharp died in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The birth date is consistent with census information. The Soc Sec Death Records also show a person with his brothers name (George) and age that died in Albuquerque in 1980 (only 5 years prior to William). I believe these two records truly are for Billy and Clif, and so it's likely they spent their last years together.
