The

families".
INTRODUCTION
As the bicentennial of our Nation draws to a close I am publishing a second edition of the genealogical materiel I have developed on the history of our family. Over ten years has been devoted to compiling this genealogy and I am deeply grateful to the many family members who have assisted me. They are too numerous to mention individually but without their help this publication would not be possible.
Every effort has been made to insure the accuracy of this genealogy but I am sure human errors have been made. For these I deeply apologize and will be anxious to correct any materiel that may not be accurate in future publications.
I had hoped to include more personal information about the individual is in this book but in view of my limited time a compromise was necessary. Therefore, I have chosen to include as many individuals and branches of the family as possible and plan to supplement this edition with a more personal history at some time in the future.
As I became immersed in attempting to lift the veil of the past, I have developed a deep appreciation of our heritage. The individuals that appear on these pages, most of whom departed before I was born, have lived again vividly in my mind. I seemed to be accompanying them on their trek westward into the frontier wilderness to make a new life and build a new nation. They must have been courageous people, willing to accept the challenges of new frontiers in search of the American dream. Although their origins were different they merged into a common stream and shared the goals and objectives that made our nation great. It has truly been one of the greatest experiences of my life which has to a major degree assumed a spiritual quality that is very difficult to explain. Although I plan to continue this project for many years to come, I trust others in the family and future generations will be inspired to continue my efforts to search for the history of our past and record the future generations that will follow. I recommend it highly as being intellectually stimulating, providing a tremendous sense of accomplishment, assisting in discovering ones identity and developing a deeper appreciation of our heritage.
I am dedicating this book to my wife "Mary" who provided the encouragement, patience and understanding: so vital to this undertaking. without her assistance and support this book would have not been possible.
