San Diego is a city of 1.2 million people with a county population of 3 million (that would include me!).  A strategic port city along the Pacific Ocean, the region boasts spectacular weather, gorgeous beaches and seaside cliffs, and the marvelous Balboa Park in the heart of the city.  With all it has going for it, it's hard to choose a better place to live.

I was born in San Diego at Sharp Memorial Hospital (SMH); kids born there nowadays are born at Mary Birch Hospital for Women, a wing of SMH.  I've lived in a number of area neighborhoods: North Park from birth to second grade, San Carlos from second through sixth grades, Stonecrest Village (a newer area just north of the stadium) when Mary and I came to San Diego after college and graduate and medical schools, Chula Vista for our first two years of home/condo ownership, and finally a home in unincorporated San Diego County (Rancho San Diego) for what we hope to be our final move.

The Travel Guide / Treo 650 Experiment

All right, folks, please excuse me as I attempt a little experiment with the San Diego portion of this travel guide.  Since I actually live here, I will be taking pictures around the county with my Treo 650 phone/PDA and using those pictures to continually update this section.  I'm aiming for fun, informative, and just a little quirky.

Enjoy!
