Courtesy and Respect...
Heroes should behave as if they are truly comrades.  We ask that guild members show respect and courtesy to all gamers, both within the guild and without. Flaming, virtual attacks against other players and general disrespect towards other players will not be tolerated.  Offensive language, in chat or on TeamSpeak is not considered acceptable either.  If you have to ask yourself if something would be offensive, then the answer would likely be 'yes'.

We do not wish to serve as some sort of thought police or morality monitors.  We simply encourage all Heroes to remember that many members play with Teamspeak piping over their speakers or with children watching over their shoulders.   Certain phrases which have become somewhat common in internet comunities are certainly off-limits, and due to their commonality must be specifically outlined here.  Referring to a particulalry one-sided defeat as being 'raped', using the term 'gay' to describe something unwanted, or the use of any profanity at all simply have no place in Heroes Etc...  A member who thinks they may simply be 'making a joke' may instead greatly offend another player.

Activity
To be a member of a community implies interaction with that community.  With that in mind we must have in place certain measures which monitor and encourage the activity of our members.

Forums:   A 'Roll Call' will be taken to ensure that members are logging in to the forums.  Our hope is that even people who do not typicaly frequent forums of any sort may visit ours and catch wind of an upcoming guild activity in which they may be interested.  The Roll Call will take the form of a thread in the forum, in which members must post during the time frame.  Members who fail to post in a Roll Call thread during the time frame will be removed from the guild roster.  Other participation in the forums is, of course, encouraged, but is not mandatory.

In Game:  Any member who fails to log into their account over the course of a four week period will also be removed from the guild roster.

It is important to note that these requirements are designed to keep Heroes Etc... a vibrant, growing community.  Should a member fail to meet these requirements and be removed from the roster, they will certainly be welcomed back.  They have only to reach an officer to receive another invite.  We do not look to punish people who cannot meet these activity levels.  Instead, having a clear look at our roster and the number of active members we have allows the guild leadership to better monitor the situation and enact certain steps to ensure continuing recruitment and the fitness of our community.

Age Requirement

Although we fully realize that age is not necessarily tied to maturity, we are also believe that it is in the best interests of Heroes Etc... to maintain a minimum age for it's members.  While there are certainly individuals who demostrate the qualities and maturity required of a Hero at all ages, the likelihood of finding these individuals lessens greatly as the applicants decline in age.  For this reason, we have chosen to only consider applicants who are 18 years old or older.  Exceptions to this rule apply at the guild leadership's discretion.

TeamSpeak
The use of TeamSpeak has proven invaluable over the course of the guild's history in both building comeraderie between members and in the effectiveness during missions and combat.  All Heroes must be able to use TeamSpeak, at least in a 'listen-only' capacity.  Exceptions may apply to members who do not speak English as a first language or those with insurmountable technical issues, at the guild leadership's discretion.
