Dave and Bill

"Remembering the American Songbook"

Dave Sherman and Bill LaPolla have teamed up to form a unique duo of trombone and accordion. Both Dave and Bill share a love of the songs from the classic American Song Book.

Tunes like Blue Moon, Bye Bye Blackbird, Oh Lady Be Good, Just Squeeze Me are representative of their repertoire.

Their performance is both entertaining and educational. Interesting background information about the tunes are part of their performance. The duo of Dave and Bill is ideally suited for small venues.

About Bill

Dave is a freelance trombonist in the RI/CT area. He is a member of the Dick Campo Big Band. He has played in the Vic Elci Orchestra, the Gary Sugal Big Band, the Coastline Swing Band, the Late Night Horns, the Blue Moon Orchestra and others. He continues to perform with many of these bands. Dave also perform with small jazz and classical ensembles. Dave studied with the late jazz trombonist Sammy Sherman.

Bill has been playing accordion since the age of five. He studied accordion with Tulio Gasperini and piano with Greg Wardson. He has performed in a variety of groups including R&B and blues. He has also accompanied singers and performed at weddings and parties. He also taught accordion for twenty years. Most recently Bill has been writing music, performing in a Gypsy Jazz band, as well as a band in the European café jazz tradition.
