Mr. de Alba sings to a studio recording done in Menlo Park, CA. in 1983 under the musical direction of Mr. Bill Bullard, who was the musical conductor, arranger and pianist at the world famous Finocchio Club where Mr. de Alba performed for many years. Three other talented musicians at that recording session were: Jeffrey Sanford at tenor sax and clarinet; Pat Klobas at the bass, and Jim Chanteloup at the drums and cymbals.
The live concert begins with an introduction movie narrated by James R. Smith, followed by these songs:
A special thank you to Mr. James R. Smith, author of "San Francisco's Lost Landmarks" * for providing the narration for the video introduction, produced and directed by Jaums Sutton. Our sincere appreciation to Ms. Linda La Blanche, Mr. De Alba’s musical arranger/director, responsible for this video’s concept, research and most of the intro images. Mr. De Alba also thanks EduarDesign for providing the graphics art for both this video and publicity.
Mr. de Alba thanks Brenda Talley of The College of Southern Nevada Performing Arts Center for contracting him, and Sue Smuskiewicz for the publicity. David also extends a warm thanks to Miss Linda La Blanche, his musical director/arranger, for driving in from Southern California with her husband to attend the show.
Mr. de Alba dedicated his concert to the memory of his late and dear friends, pioneers of the England Chapter of the Judy Garland Fan Club; Mr. Charles Blair of London, England, Mr. Billy Tweedie of Dublin, Ireland, and Mr. Sonny Gallagher of PA, USA.

David, you put on a helluva show. The show was flawless except for that turkey who hogged up the first 5 minutes. :o) The songs were wonderful, the flow was excellent and David, you retained a great stage presence throughout. By the way, should you decide to do up your website for this performance as you did for the Winchester, be sure to highlight your rendition of San Francisco. You have a way of getting into the spirit of that song. "San Francisco" is meaningful as a reminder of your days at Finocchio's as well as a song that Judy brought special feeling to. It's a special song with a great David de Alba delivery.
Quite a show and I could get a real sense of commanding the stage Alone! A big stage! I'm glad I could be the little participant I was . . . Congratulations!
It was an exciting afternoon at the Nicholas Horn Theater in Las Vegas this past Sunday, September 23, 2007. David’s “A Live Tribute to Judy Garland” introduced some new segments to his one-man show that enhanced this already spectacular concert. The show opened with an introduction to the origins of female impersonation in San Francisco, namely Finocchio’s, and David de Alba’s role as a featured headliner impersonating Judy Garland (in a DVD projected on a large screen).
The DVD introduction was followed by David’s forte, the Judy Garland songs, exquisitely delivered as never before. To the risk of repeating myself, David, like good wine, just gets better with time. Armed with only a microphone and a stool, his voice, mannerisms, walk and talk brought Judy alive to us. In between songs, he told some new anecdotes about Judy Garland never presented before which added interest and humor to his performance.
Altogether, the added introduction, the songs and anecdotes comprised a solid, thoroughly enjoyable show. The audience was charmed and entertained from beginning to end, and fans congratulated David with flowers after the concert.
