David de Alba's Loving Tribute
to the Legendary Miss Judy Garland

The Women's Club of Sun City Summerlin in Las Vegas, NV, presented The Cuban Legend David de Alba's loving tribute to the legendary Miss Judy Garland, for which Mr. de Alba has been known for many years.   The show was presented at The Desert Vista Ballroom to a capacity crowd.   A video of the complete concert was recorded by Loren and Marlene Hale, David's newly found Las Vegas friends and fans.

At the concert there were some ladies present who had seen Mr. de Alba perform on The Dennis Bono Show at Sam's Town in October of 2004, at which time he performed as Judy Garland in a two song segment.   Mr. de Alba received standing ovations at different parts of the concert by these enthusiastic lady fans and many other members of the audience.

Mr. de Alba sang to a studio recording done in Menlo Park, CA. in 1983 under the musical direction of Mr. Bill Bullard, who was the musical conductor, arranger and pianist at the world famous Finocchio Club where Mr. de Alba performed for many years.   Three other talented musicians at that recording session were: Jeffrey Sanford at tenor sax and clarinet; Pat Klobas at the bass, and Jim Chanteloup at the drums and cymbals.

David with Judy Auerbach Comments from Judy Auerbach, President, Sun City Summerlin Women's Club: I want to extend our appreciation for your efforts today.   You certainly gave us an energetic performance and definitely did capture the essence and spirit of Judy Garland.   I am glad I had programs printed for each attendee, as the ladies were able to identify those songs that were familiar to them.   Again, our thanks for a memorable afternoon. Due to a previous engagement, I was unable to attend David de Alba’s concert at the Women's Club of Sun City Summerlin in Las Vegas, NV.   However, a few days later, due to a video of the performance recorded by some of David’s loyal fans, I was able to view it in its entirety.

This loving tribute to Judy Garland, which has been David’s fortè for many years, was especially charged with energy and enthusiasm.   Particularly outstanding were “Hello Bluebird”, “If Love Were All”, “What Now My Love” and the customary ever-popular “Over the Rainbow”.   Mr. de Alba, like good wine, gets better and better with time.
