I have now attended GIT for 1 year, some brief info is at following page My Time at GIT

If you are interested in GIT, here are entry requirements (guideline is to have been playing at least 3 years):

GIT Application Requirements - Recording

http://mi.edu/admissions/

Please play with a metronome or drum machine that is loud enough for us to hear.

A. Guitar, Bass, and Keyboards: Play at least two scales and two arpeggios of your choice.

B. Play at least 60 seconds of a rhythm groove in any style and any tempo.

C. Play two or three songs in any style that best represents your abilities. (Metronome not necessary)

D. Record your speaking voice with a short narrative telling us why you want to attend Musicians Institute.

GIT Costs 2006

Tuition 2006 $4800/quarter = $19200/year

Living Costs per Quarter according to 2005-2006 MI Course Catalog

(housing seems optimistic, probably based on sharing)

Student living off campus:

Books & Supplies $ 414

Food $ 906

Housing $1920

Transportation $ 336

Personal/Miscellaneous $ 760

Total per quarter $4356 = $17424 for 4 quarters

Bottom line is Tuition + Living = $36,624 for 1 year

GIT Basic Sylabus (see latest MI Brochure for up to date detail)

List above is for 18 month course and contains 3 levels, of 6 months each.

If you do some pre-study as below you may be able to enter modules at level 2 and come out at level 3, with a one year stay.

Alternatively, if you have the time and money; attend 18 months and fill-in all gaps.

Another alternative now, if you have 18 months and have been playing a while, is to come in at level II and do Guitar for 4 quarters, then do Recording or Music Business for 6 months.

If you are thinking about attending MI, then visit on one of their 'Open House' days to get an overview and arrange a second visit to try out some real lessons.
