Hi There! I can't believe anyone would be that interested, but if you're here, then I guess you are. I was born on the "dawn of autumn" (September 22) in Cincinnati, Hamilton, Ohio, to Charles and Frances Sells. I am the youngest of three children. I moved to Arizona with my family in June of 1970 prior to my fourth birthday. I was raised in Tempe, then moved around between Tempe and Mesa while in college. I am the only college graduate in my immediate family. My brother is 14 years older than me (he was adopted at 6 1/2), and my sister is 4 years and two days older than me. Sadly, on 30 May 1990 my brother was killed by a drunk driver in North Carolina. My sister currently resides in Oregon. Much of the rest of the family is scattered between Tennessee, Ohio, Kentucky, Florida and Nevada. On 15 November 1997 I met my husband, Decker. We were both assisting in the kitchen at a singles conference for our church and later that night fell in love with one another on the dance floor. No, I'm not kidding, it really happened that way. Just four days later we both professed our love for one another and that we each knew we were meant to be together. This happened the night before our first date. He wanted to surprise me with his proposal, though, so he made me wait until 20 December 1997 to propose to me in the Celestial Room of the Mesa Arizona Temple. On 12 June 1998 Decker and I were sealed for time and all eternity in the Mesa Arizona Temple. The day was a dream come true for both of us. Our fairytale reception was done to the theme of Cinderella, with some mideval decor added for fun. Our time together was cut short, on 14 August 2000 Decker died very suddenly and unexpectedly. While I look forward to a happy reunion with him someday, there are some life lessons I have gleaned from this experience.
Another fact about me is I like movies, however I've gotten so frustrated with the foul language and nasty content in movies today, I rarely go to the theater anymore. While I respect some of the directors (namely George Lucas who knows how to make a clean movie), there are some directors who have no clue as to how they have alienated themselves from the rest of the U.S., not to mention the world. If the studios (or production companies who have ownership of the movies) would produce their own cleaned up versions of their movies, there would be no need for companies to edit their product. Some directors have stated publicly they will do this, but in the years since those promises have been made not a single movie has been released in an edited format. The MPA Rating system is no longer a useful tool, as many PG13 movies have the content a rated R movie had 10 years ago. Until then, my support would have to go with the editing companies. I work for Laird Elementary School, in the Tempe Arizona Elementary School District. I am the Computer Lab Assistant there, along with being the Crossing Guard both morning and afternoon. Getting paid to be a computer geek is actually a lot of fun, though it has it's challenges. I have to say, though, I love my job, mostly because of the kids I get to work with, while they learn about technology. Speaking about technology, click here to see a great video from the University of Kansas that I found on You Tube. Enjoy! Other interests include sewing, classical piano, composing music for the piano, photography, writing fictional short stories, travel, crafts, camping and genealogy. |
