As I go north toward Boyce, VA, on Rt 17, I hear 68Z coming northbound past Front Royal. The DS told 68Z he would have to wait at Success, VA, because 228 had left Vardo Yard, and with both trains over 6000 feet, they could only meet at Success. What in the world was a 68Z?? NS 7539 sits short of Fairgrounds Road at Success with 125 RBOX cars, evidently going into storage somewhere else, November 8, 2009.

NS 9711 leads NS 228 southbound at Success to meet 68Z.

NS 228 is normally all containers for Norfolk and international shipment, but there was a large block of JB Hunt containers on the rear. With the recent JBH-NS contract signed, without NS 203 or 211 on Sunday, maybe 228 was the only train available for these containers ... or they represent a new source of international containers for Norfolk.

NS 9280 sits in the siding at Berryville, VA, to meet 68Z.

With CSX MOW forces rebuilding the Ridge Road crossing at Shenandoah Junction, WV, with concrete pads, CSX traffic was all or nothing. After most of the crews knocked off for the afternoon, CSX 388 leads Q217 westbound on track 1, the track that was being worked on.

On the heels of Q217 is (CS)X 4718, leading a whole lot of power to the Cumberland shops, all EMD, with Q416.
