NS Operation Lifesaver GP59 4634 leads 35Q (with a wave from the hogger) eastbound at Turner Road on the NS B-line, October 7, 2008.

CSX 4786 leads Q261 westbound at Shenandoah Junction, WV. I am up here waiting for an Amtrak special to take the South Branch Valley's equipment back from the Washington Union station gala ... but I will put up with a westbound fleet of freights first. :-)

CSX 7500 leads Q341 westbound at the Junction S-curve. 7500 is the class unit of the CSX C40-8 ... but this ratty thing doesn't seem to have much class. ;-)

CSX 518 leads empties westbound.

CSX 447 leads another 400 with Q217 westbound.

Amtrak 175 leads P830 westbound at the Junction. While the light is nice, this location turns out to be not good for a very short train. :-(

C&O F7 8016 from SBV.

B&O torpedo tube passenger unit 6604. (The water tank for steam heat pushed the air reservoirs to the roof of the unit.)

P830 met P030 at Shen, with P030 coming eastbound on track 1 minutes later. OMG Amtrak ratty 155 ... this is the third time I have seen this unit in less than a week. Last week it led the NC equipment north to WUS, then went south with P079 when I was down on the RF&P. :-(

Another view of C&O 8016 at Hancock, WV. When I got there P830 was already starting into the interlocking, so I only got side and going away shots. :-(

B&O 6604.

P830 going away at Hancock, WV. At least this view shows the SBV equipment better. The Chessie Club brings up the markers.

I had never photographed here before, so I waited to see if anything else was westbound. CSX 447 with Q217 again. P830 had passed him somewhere west of Martinsburg, WV.

CSX 278 leads new aluminum hoppers westbound. Third in the consist is 80MAC 4602.

The radio fell quiet, so I went down the road to look at Q261 and turn around ... and ran into this at the road crossing. CSX 2212 leads D774 down the grade from the US Silica plant near Berkley Springs, WV.

D774 comes past Q261 (outlawed on the far right on track 1) into the yard lead.

Bringing up the rear of D774 is CSX 903839, probably used a a shoving platform to go up the branch.

NS 8971 leads NS 203 southbound at Cedarville, VA, with Corky at the throttle.

NS 8971 pours on the "coal" at Cody to start the eastbound climb up the Linden Grade on the B-line. It looks like the track crew can't decide whether to make the new siding standard gauge or wide gauge ... ;-)

The rails were laid on top of the ties. Hey, how do you put the tie plates on? Jack up the rails and slip them in.

Amtrak 206 leads Amtrak 861 (called R19 on NS) southbound at Rapidan, VA, over the Rapidan River, October 6, 2008. 861 consisted of the four pieces of equipment for the NC Transportation Museum and the C&O Gatsbys Tavern, which would be set-off in Charlottesville, VA.
