NS 9909 leads 12R westbound on the siding at Woods (VA) on the B-line. 12R is the first train to use the siding since the storm, but was told to keep it down to about 15 mph. :-( Once over on the H-line, the DS had set a route through all the passing sidings going north from Riverton Jct., so 12R turned into a plow train. He could go faster on the rails than I could on the roads, so no more plowing pics. :-(

NS 6678 leads the second 12R of the day northbound at Success on the H-line, February 8, 2010.
12R going away at Success. NS had all kinds of power problems for the signals along the H-line south of Front Royal. There was a 99V work train that was putting out generators to power signals and crossings where the commercial power was off (some 15 places).
Back along the B-line for 227 westbound past the Post Office in Delaplane, VA.
NS 9539 leads 227 past an igloo ... or maybe that is a car ... in snowy Markham, VA. It was easier to travel on the clear and dry Rt 55 than it was I-66. From Marshall to Linden the right hand lane was ice and snow, while the left lane was clear.
NS 9539 leads 227 slowly westbound past Distillery Road.
NS 9539 is about 1000 feet short of the crest at Linden ... and that's all she wrote ... now if only that catfish had 4400 hp instead of 4000. ;-) It was later determined that one of his traction motors was cut out, so he was actually over tonnage for this grade. :-(
