EMBARRASSED & “MAD AS HELL”

Dave, this is my story and I know we are not the only ones who feel this way.

My husband & I worked many, many, long hours, years & days to try to be able to set aside some money for our retirement.  (We both came from poor families & know how hard one had to work, skimp & save to get ahead.)  Well, when this time came (retirement), we still fretted about “will there be enough to keep us and still be able to do some of the things we wanted to do for our children and grandchildren”.

We had a chance to purchase farm ground so our young farmer son would have more ground to farm and for he and his family to be secure and at the same time provide an income for us. That’s gone now. We were planning on sending our grandchildren to college, an opportunity neither one of us had. That’s gone. Instead, we saw this ad in the Phoenix newspaper that said we would have a “guaranteed 14% interest on our investment!”

Because interest was low on Bank CD’s and the stock market looked real risky, we “took advantage of this special offer. It sounded like the Viaticals would give us a good return on our money without the stock market risk, and we would be helping out someone who was unfortunate as well.  Guess what!!!  We were the ones who were taken advantage of.  You see, these guys lied & lied to us, took our money and had fun with it, leaving us “high & dry”.  I am “mad as hell” and it has completely upset our whole family and household.

How embarrassing it was to have to tell our children and grandchildren “we are so sorry, kids, but we won’t be able to follow through on our hopes for each of you.  You see, these guys and their families “stole it!”  Even having to stop paying for piano lessons for a grandchild was just too much!

I have a heart condition, have had bypass surgery & repair and am not supposed to get too upset.  UPSET!  Words aren’t enough to tell you how upset my husband and I are.  We have not slept a full night once, since all this mess started.  We go out very little, can’t afford to.  Even have a hard time smiling, which is something we both prided ourselves on; “being positive.”

Praying!  Yes we pray a lot.  We would love to share with a minister friend but are too embarrassed to do so.  We are “private people” and really don’t share our hurts with others, although it might help, sometimes.  We can’t even afford to pay our church obligations; now that really hurts!  We are going to have to downsize our home situation in order to keep going. This of course hurts, as we worked so hard for it.

Like many of the rest of the victims in this scheme, we checked with the Better Business Bureau and other sources and Innovative having been a family owned business for many years, was “re-assuring to us” as we are a very cautious people. We found out we were up against real professionals in the scheme and scam business, I’ll tell you, we're MAD!  You better believe it.  Let’s put a stop to this mess, once & for all.
