Summer Eyes, 2007, page 2

Omaha--Quinn Corbin, who served as coordinator of the First Annual Great Plains Theatre Conference at Metropolitan Community College in Omaha for several months has retired. The conference was very successful and featured Tony Award winning playwright, Edward Albee and Academy Award winner Patricia Neal. Ms. Corbin, however, decided that it was time to step down and let someone younger have a shot at the big time. Ms. Corbin plans to spend more time with her family.
But seriously folks, Quinn decided that she wanted to help people, so, for now she is back at South High School as a tutor working mostly with Spanish speaking students and students from Sudan.
David Corbin: "Time is on my side. Yes it is."
Omaha--David Corbin has crossed his fingers each week as the ABC News names its person of the week, hoping that they will finally acknowledge him. This has never happened so you can imagine the surprise on Corbin's face when he saw the cover of Time magazine which read "You are the person of the year." (see below). Said Corbin: "This honor is even better than the ABC person of the week." Out of modesty, Corbin requested that this honor not be the lead story in this year's Summer Eyes. Since Summer Eyes is on the cutting edge of the information age, Corbin believes that the honor should be shared with Summer Eyes. Corbin posed for another expected honor--to be the next James Bond. (see below).

Omaha--Josie Metal-Corbin, as an artist in residence, accepted the challenge of pulling
together a community project for the Durham
Western Heritage Museum (a Smithsonian Institution Affiliates Program) this
spring. Metal-Corbin assembled 38
couples from seven countries and all walks of life who gave performances in the
museum for the Latin Jazz: la combinacion
perfecta exhibition. The performers were costumed in 1940s
styles to match the art deco museum and bronze statues in the Main Waiting Room
of what used to be the Union (Railroad) Station. Omaha survived the swaying hips and dazzling dips.

Omaha--David Corbin was invited to go to Romania to give presentations on advocacy to leaders of non-government organizations (NGOs) who work with people with disabilities. This was under the auspices of a grant from Mosiac and Motivation Romania. Corbin spent six days in Romania. Corbin did not have time to find many comical signs, just the one below for a non-stop funeral parlor. (Non-stop, means open 24 hours per day).
