We continued trolling east of La Poma.

We passed Smuggler's Cove and I photographed the spire at its mouth.

We trolled merrily around south La Poma and then trolled over the inter-island reef toward Punta Piedra Volcanica. On the south end of La Poma, I photographed several Blue-footed Boobies hanging out with a Brown Booby.

These two Yellow-footed Gulls did a cool dance and sort of fenced with their bills. Then, they mated.

We trolled around Punta Piedra Volcanica and through the open water on the northwest end of Isla San Luis to the Pinnacles. On the other side of the Pinnacles, I finally hooked up. The end of my pole got fouled and I lost it. It could have been a smallish grouper, or even a trigger for that matter. We'll never know. The GPS said we'd trolled for 6 miles. Six fishless miles I might add.
We stopped south of Caleta Paraje de Tabanco. Birds were feeding there and we hoped to pick up some feeding fish below them. Flocks of Bonaparte's Gulls had stopped over on the west side of Isla San Luis on their northerly migration. I shot this one in flight.

Numerous Elegant Terns accompanied the gulls.

No puro. Fish were not around. The boobies were rather pestilent, however, diving at our lures while we trolled. This Brown Booby cruised off the island.

This one looked dumbfounded after missing our lures.

But then again, have you ever seen a scholarly booby? We managed not to hook any of them.
