2001 was another good year at the campo. Brian and Wayne spent a good bit of time down there, so the places were fairly secure. We made a record 5 trips down there in 2001

Fishing was pretty good, and the surface fish were back at Christmas. Ramona and Dmitria both came down. The tides in April made getting out tough. Pandro and Marwan were down, along with Chuck, Jeff and Brad. We had plenty of fish tacos. Deano caught another keeper Halibut at the secret spot. Geoff and Kerry were down over Memorial Day and we found a new spot that had good Cabrilla and Grouper fishing. The Corvina were around occasionally. The fishing south of Punta Bufeo became dismal. Freddie, Marwan and Pandro were all down over October. We had fun trying to catch Machete. Only one was landed, by Eddie.

The weather was pretty good, overall. A week before the October trip, Hurricane, cum Tropical Storm Juliette dumped 7 inches of rain on our place in three days. It was more of a slow soaker than Nora, to say the least. Arroyo Mal de Orin did wash out north of Delfines, making it necessary to use the 4X4 to drive through the sandy wash. The whole place was very green. December was cold and nippy (colder and nippier than usual).

Luis dug us an outhouse pit during 2000 and we got the outhouse built over it...sort of. A hive of honeybees took up residence under the seat between October and December. Eddie had a surprise when he tried to use it one morning. We laughed harder than he did. We had lots of visitors. The road stayed in half way decent shape. We went down to the campo five times.
