What is Philosophy?

  • Philosophy is concerned with what can be known about god by everyone.

    1. Natural Religion: Philosophy

    2. It's not Revealed Religion: Bible/Scriptures

What is Religion?

  • Religion is a set of basic beliefs used to give meaning to ones own experience. What is real? What is the good (The highest value, the end in itself)

    1. Religion is cognitive (True/False)

    2. All give meaning and therefore all are religious

    3. Religion does not (cannot) arise from experience

    4. Religion is held more or less consciously
      and more or less consistently

    5. Faith is to reason what truth is to meaning

    6. Some religions are not true

    7. Will truth win out?
