The Arizona Whippet Association was formed in
August of 2000 by a core group of sixteen people experienced in breeding,
showing, coursing, and racing. Our membership went over 30 within the first two
months and now stands at 65 members. In October of 2000 we had our first Fun
Match. We have since completed all of the required "A" Fun Matches and
have been licensed by the AKC to have our first Independent Specialty
Show on March 1, 2007. We are a member club of American Sighthound Field
Association and we have submitted our application to hold AKC Lure Coursing
Trials. Our goal is to promote the
enjoyment of Whippet ownership, to have fun things for pet owners as well as
show people and to encourage ALL to get out and participate in the various
venues.
