his father-in-law, Richard Treat. Richard Treat was one of the Patentees of
the Connecticut Charter granted by King Charles II of England. A group of
Puritans of Massachusetts made their way to the Connecticut River to found the
Plantation Wethersfield, the first such town on the river.Mr. Hollister was a native of Bristol, England and emigrated to New England
in 1635. In 1643, he was admitted as a free man at Weymouth Mass. and was a
representative in the General Court of Massachusetts at the session immediately
following. In June of 1644 he was a member of the jury of a particular court
held in Hartford, he having a short time previous to that date, become a
resident of Wethersfield. He attended as a deputy of the General Court of
Connecticut for the first time as the September session of the last named year,
a post to which he was subsequently re-elected fourteen times.
Joanna Treat [Parents] was born on 24 May 1618 in South Trundle, Pitminster, Somerset, England. She died in Oct 1694 in Wethersfield, Hartford, Connecticut. She married John Hollister Lieutenant on 19 Feb 1642.
