Jewelry is my passion - designing it, making it, wearing it, and sharing it with others. I love the feel of well-crafted jewelry against the skin and seeing how it enhances the wearer's natural beauty. I love seeing the posture of a woman respond to a beautiful piece of jewelry - as though wearing it has bestowed new feelings of self-assurance and pride.

My early training in art was in painting and sculpture, and my favorite subject was the human form - working from life - whether it be an artists' model, friends, family members, or strangers waiting in an airport. I have always been fascinated with people - seeing the inner qualities manifested in the outer - as in facial expressions and postures.

Today, as I work in the world of jewelry-making, I realize that the sensibilities of my earlier work are much the same. I love creating a piece of jewelry that expresses the personality of the wearer and compliments the human form.

Inspiration comes from many places - from patterns found in nature, from other artists, as well as other art forms. When I travel to other countries, I am drawn to the marketplace, where I get a sense of the people and their everyday lives. I am fascinated with the sophistication of design in some of the most "primitive" of cultures, and intrigued with themes and motifs that recur throughout history and different parts of the world. These influences invariably find their way into my work, though the process is seldom a deliberate or conscious one.

I enjoy using unusual stones - fossil specimens, minerals, petrified bone - and combining them with precious or semi-precious gemstones. Each piece is crafted by hand and is one-of-a-kind, created most often in sterling silver, sometimes accented with gold or copper.
