Favorite Links

Here are some of Dingo's favorite internet links.

Dingo's Friends:

Lucky Dog's Web Stie
Lucky Dog was a stray found wandering the campus of the University of New Orleans by his adopted owners.  He is now a very happy dog who likes to attend Yappy Hour.   His web site also contains photos of his feline siblings.

Violet's Web Site
Violet is a labrador retriever that Dingo knows from Yappy Hour.  Violet also like to dress up in costumes.  This web site belongs to Violet and her sister Chelsaea who is also a labrador retriever.

Nellie's Web Site
Dingo's friend, Nellie, helps foster and find homes for other retired racing greyhounds.

Greyhound Adoption Organizations:

Greyhound Friends of the Gulf Coast
This is a greyhound adoption organization that Dingo meets with at least once a month at the PetSmart in Harahan, LA to help raise awareness on greyhound adoption.  They also organize play days where the dogs have a large enclosed area where they can run and play without leashes.

Greyhound Pets of America - Louisiana Chapter
This is another greyhound adoption organization that Dingo encounters every one and a while.

Other Adoption Organizations:

Jefferson SPCA
The Jefferson SPCA sponsors Yappy Hour every month at Jefferson Feed.  At Yappy Hour, Dingo gets to mingle with other dogs and enter costume contests.  Be sure to check out her Yappy Hour photo album to see photos of dogs in costumes.

Louisiana SPCA
Dingo is having fun taking an Agility for Fun class with the Louisiana SPCA.   Classes are held on the new mezzanine that Jefferson Feed constructed for their agility and obedience classes.

About Greyhounds:

Retired Racing Greyhounds for Dummies
This is a fantastic book that has all sorts of good information about greyhounds.   This is how Dingo got started with clicker training.  It is easy and it really works.  But you have to follow the rules very closely.

Adopt a Greyhound
This web site has lots of information that we found to be very helpful when we first researched information about adopting a greyhound.

Mobile Greyhound Park
Dingo use to race at this track.

Other Cool Greyhounds:

Gilleys' Dancing Greyhound Girls
Here are some greyhounds that we saw performing lots of tricks on Animal Planet, Dingo's favorite station.  We also saw them perform at the Hound Dawg Howliday in Pensacola.

Pet Art:

Georg Williams
This guy does great pet portraits.  He did a fantastic job on Dingo's portrait.  He also designed a T-shirt for the Jefferson SPCA.  Visit the Jefferson SPCA's web site for information on purchasing a T-shirt

Shopping:

Greyhound Adoption Center
This web site sells A LOT of greyhound merchandise.  It is run by volunteers and sales support their greyhound rescue organization.

K-9 Designs
Dingo gets great collars from this web site.  Her latest collar is holding up very well with her scratching.

Hound Togs
Dingo has two of their coats, a rain coat, and some snoods.  They fit great.

Fast Jack Sportswear
Fast Jack sells some cool greyhound t-shirts for humans.

Personalized Greyhounds, Inc
We got some great embroidered greyhound shirts from this site.

Three Dog Bakery
Dingo loves the fresh-baked treats from this place.  One of their bakeries is located on Royal Street in the French Quarter.

Greyhound Love
This web site sells several children's books about greyhounds.  We have read "The Home Stretch" which is good story that makes us think of Corona.  It is about a dog that had a difficult time finding its "forever home."  It is also very well illustrated.

Greyhound Goodies
This is a good place to get plush toy greyhounds.

Magazines:

Urban Dog Magazine
"Get in touch with your inner dog."

Canine Good Citizens:

American Kennel Club
Dingo passed the AKC's Canine Good Citizen test.  This link will provide you with more information on the test procedures.

Travel:

The Burn Bed & Breakfast
Dingo enjoyed her stay at The Burn in Natchez, MS.   Besides being a fantastic house dating back from 1834, it has plenty of lawns and gardens which helped made Dingo feel more comfortable.  The owners are very pet-friendly.

Noble Manor Bed & Breakfast
Dingo stayed at Noble Manor, a very nice bed & breakfast in the historic area of Pensacola, FL.   The owners have three dogs themselves, one Shih Tzu and two Standard Poodles.

Grooming:

How To Dremel You Dog's Nails
Dingo use to get regular pedicures using our Dremel tool.  (Now that her walks are getting longer, her nails seem to stay at a good length.)  The Dremel is a great way to get the nails short with out the bleeding.  This web site will explain how to use the Dremel tool to trim your dog's nails.
