The EE65 was primarily used in forward areas, usually by an enlisted technician called a "Wire Chief". The Wire Chief would have been responsible for a group of signalmen up to platoon size aand would have the responibility of coordinating the laying of wire, the maintainence of wire and the recovery of wire
