Dealing with disinformation, or misinformation, means that sometimes the best way to a real understanding of the situation involved taking the argument to reducto ad absurdum, that is, taking the argument to an excessive level.
Government Experts
People have been bashing Dubya for his knowledge of insider trading and other common business practices, but have not considered this: he has an intimate knowledge of his subject. I also note in "pornography" cases on the Supreme Court that there is also an expert, Justice Clarence Thomas.
I say we should take advantage of this expertise, rather than condemning them for all their hard work. Let's get more people like Ken Lay - say, in Pentagon Procurement.
Immigration
Complaints about immigrants tend to center on Mexicans and others from Latin nations, but there is a large group that anti-immigration groups tend to forget, and that is Canadians. While most Mexicans enter the US illegally [or even legally] for work, they tend to work the low-paying, unpopular jobs in areas such as agriculture. However, Canadians have a tendency to get jobs that are far better paying, and which many Americans would be willing to hold down, unlike the heavy physical labor of the Hispanics.
