This is an additional set of observations of how Neocons handle, or more accurately AVOID, debate. Like the Rules and Nutiquette, these have been repeatedly demonstrated on radio, TV, in newspapers and in magazines.
You may notice very similar 'rules' to the previous ones, but there are some
interesting new permutations.
Play the 'victim' card.
When Progressivism and Paleoconservatism were in the majority, the extremes, Left and Right, both attacked 'The Establishment' (The Liberty Lobby still refers to the U.S. Government as such). Neocons have learned to always act as if they are an oppressed minority, having to fight for every right.
Distraction.
Yes, this is basically 'Changing the subject'. However, any link (most commonly used Neocon: 9/11/2001) to the other subject is exploited to the maximum effect. Upon quieter analysis (not having to try to make your point before the 'host' hangs up), the link seems tenuous at best.
Be Proud of your humility.
Regardless of how much more money you make than 'the common man', always insist that you support them and are on their side. Use the various techniques, rules and etiquette to misinform and deceive.
Take claims to the Absurd.
This is the reverse side of the 'victim card' technique. To BE a victim, there must be an oppressor. The oppressor must be more powerful, and unwilling to compromise. (Thus allowing the stance of non-compromise by the victim)
Laws are for other people, we are beyond reproach
You can see this everywhere, not just in the Abramoff Affair, or Abscam (remember that?), Abu Ghrab, etc.
