BodySnatch

"Beware the LubDub Bird, and shun the frumious BodySnatch"

- Lewis Dodgson, A Young Man's Guide to Monster Hunting, Anno Victoria 1871.

The BodySnatch is something of an Orrorshan success story, a successful self-made Horror. Originally little more than a variant Ghoul - and not even a very imaginative one at that - the BodySnatch took it upon itself to find a new source of Fear. It began to stalk moonlit graveyards, digging up graves, frightening the occasional caretaker, but more often than not making itself a target for every Tom, Dick, and Harry that fancied themselves a destroyer of evil beasts.

But the desecration of interred bodies, while horrible, could not reach the level of true Horror neccessary in Orrorsh. So the BodySnatch began to take bodies not only from fresher and fresher graves, but soon from morgues, funeral homes, wakes, and sometimes even during the funerals themselves! And as the BodySnatch grew more and more cunning, and more and more undetectable with each theft, it as grew weaker and weaker. It had become so skilled at stealing bodies from graves that no more Fear was generated. Most of the time no one even knew that the bodies were missing!

So the BodySnatch began to leave a trail. First whole bodies would appear and disappear. (In fact, the BodySnatch has toyed with more than one murderer, supposed murderer, or murder-wannabe in this way.) Then bodies missing parts, so that they could not be fully interred. Then smaller and smaller parts would appear, fingers with rings, uniquely shaded eyes, or pices of skin with an identifying mark. It would take weeks, even months, for the entire body to finally be returned, and the BodySnatch was able to instill fear not only in the families, but the constabulary, as well as random indivduals who received a liver in the post.

But it was during the time that the technodemon Thratchen served as High Lord pro tem of Orrorsh that the BodySnatch truly came in to it's own. The Horror felt an immediate kinship with the creature, and sought to emulate the random sadism of the Tharkoldu in every way. It was also here that the BodySnatch turned from preying on the dead to preying on the living. First there was a string of murders, each victim with their heart ripped from their body. Then another group each missing their liver. A third, eyes. And then the BodySnatch began to take less neccessary organs, such as kidneys, leaving their victims alive and in constant fear that it will happen to them again. The BodySnatch has also returned to subtlety, sometimes removing organs from their victims in the guise of a medica professional, others in such a way that they do not even know they are no longer intact until much later.

With the return of the Gaunt Man, the BodySnatch was made a full-fledged Nightmare, with the ability to create Horrors of it's own. All of Core Earth is just one large smorgasbord, and the BodySnatch has the hunger!

Possibilities: at least five (5) per Storm Knight.
Natural Tools: Teeth/Claws (STR+3/Damage Value 16).
Powers: armor defeating attack(teeth/claws), blur form, life drain(Toughness). BodySnatch can also mystically "snatch" body parts by making an Apportation total vs. the Target's TOU. The result points are read on the damage table, but only the wounds are counted. One wound is equivalent to a finger, toe, or appendix, two a non-essential organ, three a limb, and four an essential organ such as heart, lungs, or brain. The part is removed cleanly, and there is no bleeding, even with three or more wounds. Possibilities may be spent to reduce the damage as usual. "Snatched" organs as well as those removed by physical means are the basis of the Life Drain power.
