The History of Dei Civitas

In "the Golden Age" on Core Earth, everything was perfect, and Man lived in harmony with his environment and his gods. Miracles were a part of everyday life. But something happened - some say it was the fault of Man and his pride, others say it was because the gods became petty and cruel - and Man thrown out of this heaven, and began to no longer believe in his gods. Dei Civitas began in the same way, only here it was not Man who was thrown from heaven, but God!

Perhaps it was a slightly higher Spiritual axiom, allowing for a greater sense of community. Perhaps it was an increased Social action, allowing for more sophisticated thought. But for whatever reason, the race of Man on Dei Civitas became self-aware as a whole, a single collective unconsciousness which then banished the dieties of Man from the worlds they had created. With miracles gone, civilization on Dei Civitas evolved quite similar to that of Core Earth. Wars were still fought over religion, people were still persecuted for their beliefs, but for the most part the inhabitants of Dei Civitas grew less and less interested in the power of the gods, and became more and more interested in the power they could achieve for themselves through Technology. But one day, Technology turned on them, and they found themselves needing new gods...
