At the very center of the Star Sphere lies a small planet, no larger than some moons, which its inhabitants call Eu. (Coincidentally, "Eu" is the Mohani word for "Truth".) The Eum are an ancient race, claiming an origin that goes further back than the Mohani, back to the origin of the Star Sphere itself. But unlike the Mohani, they refuse to interfere directly with a planet’s development, but rather they see themselves as "guardians of the universe’s knowledge", seeking to record all of a planet’s history and achievements, so that it may one day be used by all.
To this end they have gathered agents and academicians from the various worlds under the banner "Galacticum Lectari Candelae", or "Teachers in the Way of the Galactic Candle". For these agents are not merely gatherers of information, but prophets of learning, teaching that all knowledge is precious, a bright shining candle to illuminate the darkness of space.
The candle is both a metaphor and badge, with each Lectari receiving a meditation candle of a specific color to indicate their station and to help them focus their psionic powers. Saying that "light is the one truth that all planets (and now cosms) share", the Eum have divided up the Lectari like a prism, with neophytes being Red Lectari all the way up to the most trusted Eum Honor Guard, the Violet Lectari. The uninitiated population, sometimes called "InfraRed" by more disparaging Lectari, are considered the blackness that will be illuminated by the knowledge collected by the Lectari.
In addition to their candles, Lectari often dress in mostly black to indicate their humble origins, with large swatches or geometric patterns of their appropriate color, more color for higher ranks. The Eum leaders dress all in white,quite striking againt their bright red skin and bright blue hair, as befitting their illuminated status. (A few of the aforementioned Lectari are disparaging enough to make "UltraViolet" remarks, but never in front of the Eum, and never, ever, ever in front of the Violet Lectari.)
With the invasion of Core Earth, the Eum have been quite eager to catalogue the new realities, and to spread their illumination throughout the cosmverse, and possibly even the infiniverse as well.
