The Ayslish can be quite literal in their interpretation of things. Whether this is due to the Law of Observation, or the low Possibility energy of their homeland narrowing their scope of experiences, or Magic itself - the Tharkoldu have a similar bluntness - is still debated, but this spell is a prime example. It was created by a young mage upon hearing of the Core Earth device called a "firehose", used to "put fires out", promptly decided to improve the concept with magic.

The spell is quite literally that, a hose made of fire, created by siphoning from a larger flame source. But it is unknown if the mage misunderstood the use of the word "out", or if they just didn't think the spell through (those that know curious mages feel the later), because the spell doesn't extinguish the fire as much as simply Apport it to another site. Still, it has found favor among mages specializing in Fire, for those times when spells do not act as they should, and in towns that have a large body of water to drop the hosed fire into once moved. Saddly, like most magics, it has also fallen into misuse, with corrupt mages using it to spread destruction, or even attack those who seek to extinguish the blaze. The spell has, however, led to a refinement of the Apportation/Water spells that are used to fight fires, allowing for greater control and efficiency.

To cast, the mage must face the fire, wave her hands as if wafting the fire towards herself, and call out "Fire, Walk with Me!" (Other versions of the spell use "Out, out darn blaze!) The spell then draws out a pillar of fire, 2 meters in diameter, from the target flame. The mage may control the curvature of the pillar, so long as it's total length does not exceed the range of the spell. The length of the pillar may be extended or contracted at up to 5 meters per round. The base of the pillar remains connected to the original fire, though it can be shifted to another fire within range of the spell, and if used to completely drain a fire the spell will pick up the last remnants and carry it along. The spell may drain a maximum of 8,000 (Duration + 5) cubic meters of fire over the Duration of the spell. If used to set fires, the mage may make only one "attack" using her Apportation skill each round the spell is in effect (90 rounds), with a DV equal to the originating flame or 15, whichever is less. While the spell will merely draw off a fraction of very large (DV 16+) normal fires, it will fail if cast on a magical fire with an effect value greater than 15.

Though similar in form and function to Snorkel, the two spells are thought to be totally independant of each other. Of course, the Ayslish are not much concerned with intellectual property rights, and so little investigation into this area has been done.
