![]() "Dandy" Don is a retired U.S. Air Force Chief Master Sergeant (E-9). He was a B-52 Crew Chief early in his career and served with the Strategic Air Command (SAC) for 25 years. He was assigned to bases in Texas (3), Illinois, South Dakota, Florida, Massachusetts, Nebraska, Guam, Okinawa, Thailand, and Viet Nam. His final assignment was in the Aircraft Maintenance Management Division in Headquarters SAC at Offutt Air Force Base in Omaha, Nebraska. Following his retirement from the Air Force in July 1980, Dandy Don was employed first as a Logistics Analyst, then as the Integrated Logistics Support Business Manager and ultimately as Computing Resource Manager with the Boeing Company in Wichita, Kansas. In January 1993 he retired from Boeing after 12 years and now lives just south of Wichita in Derby, Kansas. Don returned on occasion to assist Boeing as a Contract Engineer for the "Air Force One" program. He has served as the Air Force Association Kansas - Vice President for Government Affairs and was deeply involved in the successful fight with the Kansas Legislature and U.S. Supreme Court (Barker v. Kansas) to provide Kansas State Income Tax equity for military retirees. He also served as Secretary of the Society of Logistics Engineers (SOLE) in Wichita. He has served on the Board of Directors of NAMI Kansas as well as that of NAMI Wichita. Don is an active Life Member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. His original home is New York City. Don attended American International College, Texas Christian University, and received his undergraduate degree from the University of Nebraska. His post graduate work earned him a Dual Masters Degree in Business and Management from Webster University, St. Louis, Missouri. He spends his retirement time traveling and playing golf with friends. |
