Tuesday, July 8, 2008 - We arrived at my Sister Darlene's and her husband Doug's farm today in Deer River, MN shortly after noon. We have the trailer set up in a park like setting on their property complete with electric hookups and everything we need. Spent the day visiting and retired early since we were both tired from traveling. Weather is cool today and I actually put on a long sleeved shirt. Lots of Mosquitos. The food here is excellent.
Wednesday, July 9, 2008 - HE SAID: We got up early after a good nights sleep and had some delicious oatmeal with peaches and brown sugar for breakfast. Doug and I took the electric jack off of the trailer, turned it around, drilled some new holes and remounted it so that my tailgate now does not hit it when I put it down. I worked on Dar's computer for a while trying to speed it up by un-installing some unused programs, and setting up Firefox as her browser instead of Internet Explorer. Seems to be working much better now. Marce caught up on our laundry. After 10 days, there was a lot. We were finally able to get in touch with our grandchildren Zenia, Sabryn, and Jaeger in North Carolina. They are still in a motel for two more days before they can get into their house. I just got off the riding lawn mower of Doug's. What fun. It has two levers to control the steering. Push/pull and you go forward, backwards or turn on a dime. I am still not very accurate and my rows are crooked, but it is fun. With 40 acres, there is a lot of lawn to mow.
Wednesday, July 9, 2008 - SHE SAID: Ah yes, we are in beautiful Minnesota and what a wonderful sight it was to see my sister-in-law, Dar, come out of the house walking so incredibly great with no pain after her recent knee replacements--talk about a gift from God! And oh my, have we been yakking it up talking about our grandkids, kids, all God's blessings-- and on and on! It's been wonderful.
And, yes, we finally did get to talk with our little angels, Zenia, Sabryn & Jaegur, and they are getting ready to move into their new house on Friday--but I sure wanted to reach through the phone line and hug them, but we will see them in August.
It actually just started raining, which is a treat for us, but probably not such a delight for the folks who see it on a regular basis, but we sure are enjoying it. I may go dash across the yard singing after I finish this journal entry!
And hey, I fear I am going to put 20 pounds on with all the terrific food we are getting here...so it's a good thing the truck has extra duty suspension!
