Thursday, July 17, 2008  -  HE SAID:   We have been neglecting our walking since arriving here so today, Marce and I went for a long walk, but we didn't quite make it to 10,000.  Then, we went Laurie and Loren's house for dinner.  Laurie is Doug & Dar's youngest daughter.  She made "Indian Tacos." Just like regular tacos but on fry bread instead of tortillas.  Very good.  Then we were treated to a performance of "Showboat".  This is a musical production that has been going on since 1956.  An old Mississippi river boat sails down the river, docks and there is a lot of local talent singing and dancing.  Laurie's daughter Kiah, who is 15, was one of the star performers.  The production was on the Mississippi River and it was something to watch night fall on the river with the moon rising and the geese swimming up the river that seemed to glow in the moonlight.  The pictures could not do it justice.  Overall it was a great day that even included fresh from the oven blueberry pie.

Thursday, July 17, 2008  -  SHE SAID:   Once again, a truly blessed day, which included getting my spirit recharged talking with Dar, and then getting to spend more fun time with Don's delightful family...and eating more incredible food, as Don mentioned above. These Minnesota folks should star on the Food Network.
Speaking of stars, our niece, Kiah, did an extraordinary job in "Showboat." She has a stage presence that just knocks your socks off. You can't help but watch her when she is on stage. She is a true natural and I can understand WHY the theatrical folks here always call and beg her to be in their productions.
I also thoroughly enjoyed getting to see Laurie's house again -an eclectic masterpiece. This girl could swoop into a garage packed with boxes and take 1,000 mix-matched items and whip them into a display that leaves you with your mouth hanging open. She is amazing, in talent, heart & spirit, as are ALL Don's family. Must be the crystal clear Minnesota air...or something in mosquito venom!
