GMRS Repeater Fund

This page lists those who have supported the operation of the GMRS repeaters in Virginia Beach and Hampton Roads areas of Virginia operated by Don Michalek, WPXY658. These repeaters are open for public use and REACT. Occasional use without advance permission is fine, but for routine use please contact the repeater owner. While using the repeater, you may be asked to ID yourself with your call sign. If so, don't forget to say "Hi" to the repeater owner!

Currently, there is one active repeater. A second repeater is in the works! Contributions are greatfully accepted!

A License is required to use GMRS radios.

Some details on the repeater. It is a 40w UHF repeater using 1/2" Heliax Hardline with a Cushcraft 6 element Yagi. The TX antenna is at 60ft above ground. Hopefully we can get a tower to put it on so we can reach out even farther! The current range varies on location due to the urban and suburban environment (i.e. buildings, obstructions etc). In certain conditions it has been used as far away as Portsmouth, but the average range is only about 12 miles from the oceanfront. It has full use in the tourist area of the Virginia Beach Oceanfront.
