Background Information on
SAN CHRIS ADOPT A PET
NEW TAZEWELL, TN 37825

Gloria McPherson had her 77th birthday in January, 2005. She made a very important decision - that she cannot accept any more dogs and she must find homes for the dogs who have found shelter at her farm. She has been rescuing dogs and cats for over 20 years and in January had over 100 dogs. There is no animal shelter in Claiborne County so her operation, the SAN CHRIS ADOPT A PET farm has become the local no-kill shelter.

Gloria has stayed in Animal Rescue work because of her passion and love of animals and because she has lots of help from the Lincoln Memorial University Veterinary Technology Program (LMU) and her friends. However, it's time for her to retire.

Over the past four years, she has made 360 adoptions, but the overall number of dogs at her shelter has only decreased by 54 during that time since so many have been brought to her.

The LMU students hold adopt-a-thons each month, but we are trying to reduce the numbers right away. These are beautiful dogs that need a home where they can get more attention. Most of the dogs have been spayed or neutered (or will be before adoption), and all dogs had their Rabies shots.

Another reason we are asking for your help is because one of Gloria's main volunteers is moving away soon so we'd really like get as many dogs as possible adopted before then.

So, please browse through the descriptions and photos of the dogs and send email or call one of the contact people to get your new pet.

Gloria and her friends thank you.
