JERRY'S FAMILY

GRANDMA JESSIE & GRANDPA GEORGE DEVEAU

Jessie & George Sr. DeVeau are Jerry's grandparents on his mother, Lorraine's side of the family. This photo was taken around the 1920's. George was born in Yarmouth, Canada. Jessie in Wedgeport, Canada. George & Jessie met and married in Canada in 1924. There was a 15 year difference between them, and they had 4 children; 3 sons, George Jr., Edwin, and Peter, and a daughter Lorraine. George & Jessie moved to Stoughton, Massachusetts when Peter was 5 years old. George held many jobs. He did carpentry work in Massachusetts and worked for Bethlehem Steel/Shipping yard in Boston. He was constantly working on their home, installing indoor plumbing, a well and water system, forced warm air and heating system. Later he became a barber. Jessie was the daughter of Peter and Marguerite Pothier. She was a homemaker and cleaned houses for extra income. She was a member of Les Acadiens Seniors de Wedgeport.

She was 30 years old at the time of her death, was married almost 10 years to Vern Fuller, and left behind 5 boys, Jerry who was 9, Dale, Hal, Bill and Ted, who was 2. She was born in Boston, Massachusetts, and graduated from Massachusetts General as an RN. She worked as an RN off and on through out her life. (RIGHT) George Jr. was the oldest son of George & Jessie DeVeau, was born around 1926, and was approximately 2 years older than Lorraine. He was in the Philipines, Guam and Okinawa, and in charge of a field hospital in Singtowe, China at the end of the war. He went to school and became an RN. He worked in a psychiatric hospital, as well as as being the head nurse at UCLA's Psychiatric hospital night shift in the 1970's. He died in the mid 1970's of a heart attack.

He attended boot camp in San Diego. He was stationed in San Diego and was about 20 years old when his sister, Lorraine died. Peter spent about 3 months at Midway Island, then attached to a Naval Reserve in St. Petersburg, Florida. He later went to Mayport, and finished in the Navy after 4 years. Peter now resides in Florida.

PETER DEVEAU

This photo of Peter was taken in Wedgeport, Nova Scotia in July of 1998, while visiting his aunt, Marion Pothier, Jessie DeVeau's youngest sister. Much thanks goes to Peter as he has been an invaluable source of genealogy information for Patty and the Fuller family.

VERN FULLER, SON JERRY, WIFE LORRAINE

As legend has it, Jerry, shown here at about 1 year of age in 1951 with parents Vern & Lorraine, was a bit of a bully as a youngester; proof of that has yet to be discovered. The husband I know of today is a kind and gentle man, similiar in nature to my own father, George Ware. He does have quite a competitive streak in him though, which for the most part can be fun, and has made the 32+ years we've been married so far entertaining.
