Dorca comes from a family where each member of it has the privilege to be talented in music, all sing and play several instruments, in the Puerto Rico musical scene the Cobian family is well known especially for Dorca, and her sister who have made sure to be one of the best that have ever stepped a young foot outside the Puerto Rico Conservatory of Music. As many people know her she is a singer, but as a girl she played the flute and she has some skills in piano and guitar. As a singer she is so skillful, that she could have the radio playing an aria and she would be singing another one without mixing one with another. She has taught me all I know about opera, and speaking of teaching, she has cultivated voices among Puerto Rico’s most famous dance group in their music c d's! I have had the honor of knowing Dorca for 6 years. She is not only a great friend but more importantly she is one of the most talented and well versed musicians I have ever known. I am a professional actress and singer in Los Angeles, CA and have studied with Dorca in voice coaching sessions and produced a private home classical recital in the home of Arthur Clements, my father, in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Her along with her sister Myriam, a flutist and arranger, exhibited the highest quality of classical and popular music performance and knowledge during that recital and beyond in other performances that I have attended. Throughout my experience of knowing Dorca I have learned to respect not only her talent but music as a true and valued art. Her passion supersedes so many other artists in her quest for great music and I have been opened up to a new world of bliss through her understanding of such. Her voice as well painted pictures in my mind as I heard her sing her repertoire of German and French art songs. Dorca has proven her talents both academically and in performance practicality and is in my opinion considered one of the most prolific singers from the Caribbean today having studied under masters of opera like Justino Diaz and instructors from Julliard and from the Metropolitan Opera House at the Conservatory of Music in PR. Dorca Cobian is a Gift sent to the world by the Lord Jesus Christ. He has bestowed upon her an extreme emotional capacity. When she laughs tears of joy stream down her face. When she cries pure pain is released so thick that it makes your bones ache. When she loves there is no one else in the world but you. When she is your friend you will never again know loneliness. Among the many gifts the Lord has bestowed upon Dorca, he has given her one that is admired, applauded, and even envied; a gift bestowed upon his Angels in Heaven so that they may Worship Him - it is the Gift of Song - of Music - of Voice. Through the harmonization of these gifts Dorca is able to sing, sound amazing and be felt. Her song is thick with emotion, resonance, and wonder. Dorca Cobian?. Wow! She’s a very good friend. A loyal one.

Since the first day I met her, she has had an impact on me. Maybe it was her attitude as a singer, or just that I simply admired her personality. Either way, we got to be real friends. I can say that as a human being she’s passionate, funny, sensitive; anyways, she rocks. As a singer, a great voice and a very creative artist. Not only a voice but one from those that comes from the bottom of the heart. If someone wants to know Dorca or have her as a voice teacher and even better as a friend, I can tell you, it’s worth it.
